Advantages Of Using Eco-friendly Packaging Supplies And How To Find Them

Businesses are increasingly aware of their potential to damage the environment with the use of petrochemical based plastic in their packaging supplies. They're also aware that their clientele are demanding more of them in this regard. Clients often vote with their purses when it comes to providing business to companies that don't seem to care about the environment.

In addition, new standards of packaging are being formulated in which product wrapping is ranked according to eco-friendliness. Governments and independent corporations whose job it is to oversee products casings are all developing their own way of rating sustainable design. Businesses will have to start changing their ways now in order to be ready when these measurements are finalized.

Neighborhoods are a constant reminder of the hideous plastic problem: packets and other items are left in gutters and playgrounds the world over. Its presence is just as noticeable on the web, where many pages site the dangers of plastic when used to wrap food. It doesn't feel safe or good for the environment to use items without taking this recent knowledge into account.

The biggest problem is with harder plastic, which contains a chemical called Bisphenol A. Tests site its dangers as diabetes and obesity in adults and brain and behavioral disorders in children. Infants are more susceptible to its dangers than adults are.

Taking this into account, the principled business person needs to avoid packaging made of polycarbonate plastics. Bisphenol A also leeches into food through tin cans, which should be avoided too. There are other options, many of which have already been FDA approved. The business owner will benefit from choosing the approved options as they will already have been tested. This way there will be no potential problems waiting around the corner.

Forests are being cut down to provide us with cartons and paper and customers are no longer accepting of this. They check their packaging for recycle symbols before buying. While you'll get a nod of approval for using boxes instead of plastic, make sure it's made of recycled material.

An extremely inexpensive and convenient option is to use a business that hires out boxes, instead of purchasing them new. Often these companies will drop the boxes off at your door and fetch them after they've been transported. It's convenient and cheap and you're not left with hundreds of boxes to dispose of when you're done.

When it comes to protecting glass, there are many green alternatives. Packing peanuts are now made to dissolve in water after use. Bubble wrap that can be recycled and composted is available too. In a smaller retail environment, the old fashioned reuse of shredded paper is still the cheapest and greenest route to take.

It is possible that you could spend more money sourcing eco-friendly packaging supplies. However, if you do enough looking, you'll actually find that you can save money this way. This is not to mention the fact that you'll achieve better customer satisfaction and higher sales as a result of all your hard work.
